GLOW Crit #1 : Quote Cards
The concept:
We recreate a short clip in Instagram Stories, where users will tap to reveal quotes. Images will be stylized to look platform-native.
first let me explain how I feel about QC. I think they are extremely outdated and not engaging enough. In terms of engagement, I feel they do not capture your attention enough, yea you read a quote haha, like, move on. Not something you would really repost or share. Most of the time, what really sells the quote is the actual facial expression or the ambiance of the scene. SOOOO, with all that said, after reading an article about motion stills... I tried my best to replicate that.
Some points I've learned so far about quote cards in general through my "travels" that influenced the decisions I made on mine:
- Videos perform better than stills and are more interesting in my opinion.
- People need to get hooked within the first 3 seconds (which is why I used a lot of motion, a pseudo unusual aesthetic and bright colors in the first few seconds of the video).
- Not everyone listens with sound, so it's always important to caption.
This is an emoji rebus. I'm thinking it might be an instagram stories thing where the quote comes up as an emoji rebus for you to figure out, and then when you click it it turns into the actual quote?
